I was only out of town--and away from the blog--for 24 hours, but apparently everyone had the same urge to post while I was gone. When I logged on blog today, I first thought I was on the wrong blog. "Who are all these people?" I asked myself. Jasonic? Who's that?
So I was in Southern Utah yesterday, doing three competency evaluations. The first two, on Thursday night, were at the Iron County Jail (doesn't that sound like a tough jail: IRON County). Between evaluations, while the inmates were in lockdown (read: eating their dinner with plastic spoons), I took Jordan and Nate to Chili's. It was great. Jordan and Nate talked about school (and how bad SUU's football team is) and I talked about work. After the second evaluation, I dropped by Jordan's apartment to see how the place is shaping up. They really love Cedar City. They say the schoolwork hasn't been that tough so far ("easier than high school," they said), but they haven't had any tests, either.
Friday, I headed to Hurricane for my last evaluation. It was at the Purgatory Correctional Facility. I like that name even better than Iron County Jail! Catholics say Purgatory is the place of "final purification" after death. Yikes! Strangely, I felt no more purified upon leaving there today than when I arrived--although I did wash my hands really good on my way out.
As for Maddie's game on Wednesday, they won! I remember last year our girls would kind of wilt in the afternoon heat and not play very well. That hadn't happened this year. Until Wednesday. Fortunately, Team Spirit jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the half and then held on to win 2-1.
Tomorrow they play the team which, in five games so far this season, has not scored a goal. The biggest challenge is going to be trying not to hang 20 on them (Oops. Did that sound cocky? That sounded cocky, didn't it? I mean, TS has scored 40 goals and this team hasn't scored any. What am I supposed to say?). Amazingly, this team is not in last place in the standings because they earned one point in the standings because they had a 0-0 tie. So we'll see.

Wow, the cool places you get to go:) And, yes, we are all so glad about the vigorous hand washing between evaluations. We wouldn't want you bringing home any crazy germs. Love to hear about what you are doing. Keep keeping us informed.
Awesome about the intense trips you've taken. About Jordan and his bad football team...Utah State is pretty notorious for having a baaaaadddddd football team. Actually, Brianne and I attended the homecoming team against San Jose State University...yeah, our best chance to win...it was raining and it came down to the last 2 minutes! We were a head...ahead! But lost at the last minute...well, basketball season is around the corner!
