In a rare "swing shift" scheduling arrangement to accommodate the team they were supposed to play on Wednesday, Team Spirit played that match (vs. Blaze) later in the week on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and then played another team (Cougars) Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m.
While the schedule was unusual, the outcomes were not. Team Spirit torched the Blaze by jumping out to a 2-0 lead at halftime and then turning on the heat in the second half and outscoring the opponent 4-1 for a 6-1 final score.
Thirteen hours later, TS was at it again. This time they pounced on the Cougars, leading 4-0 well into the second half before reeling off four more quick scores to make the final result 8-0.
Madison scored her fourth goal of the season against the Cougars and had a number of strong shots against both teams. Team Spirit continues to occupy its perch at the top of the league standings with a record of 8-0, outscoring their opponents by a whopping 61-4.
Two matches remain for the Fall segment of league play, the first of which comes this Wednesday against FC Edge who has a record of 4-4. The final match of the Fall is against the second-place team in the league: HC Storm C Jensen, who are undefeated with a record of 6-0. That game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 10, at 5:30 p.m.
