After going 7-9 during the indoor season, Team Spirit got back to their winning ways at the start of the second half of the outdoor season. Ben Franklin said, "In this world, nothing is certain but death and taxes." Next on the list of certainties could be "Team Spirit winning their outdoor matches!"As you may recall, at the end of the Fall session, TS was leading the 14-team league with a record of 10-0. To begin the second half of the season, the 14-team league was split into two "round robin" flights: A and B, with the top 7 teams in flight A and the bottom 7 teams in flight B; thus better matching teams by ability.
On Saturday, March 22, the Girls in Gold faced off against the second-place team, Avalanche, who, after the first 10 games had a record of 7-2-1. Team Spirit and Avalanche had never faced each other, so the suspense was thick at the start of the match. Avalanche scored first and led 1-0 at the half. TS head coach Jose Marzan challenged the girls to score five goals in the second half. He nearly got his wish. Team Spirit plowed over Avalanche in the second half, outscoring them 4-0 for a 4-1 final score. Madison had a great game, but did not score.
The following Tuesday, Team Spirit faced the Fall's third-place team, Adrenaline (6-0-3). Adrenaline got TS's full attention after scoring on a defensive lapse in the first minute of play. Team Spirit got their own adrenal glands going by scoring the next three goals to make it 3-1 at the half. Adrenaline managed one more score and held Team Spirit scoreless in the second half to make the final 3-2 for Team Spirit.
Team Spirit is now 12-0 in their last 12 outdoor games. Saturday, the Girls in Gold will face off against the Fall's fourth-place team, Blue Crush, whom Team Spirit defeated 6-0 in the first game of last Fall. Will TS prevail again, or will Blue Crush wreak successful revenge? Stay tuned to find out!

G-Dawg, I see the Team Spirit and we are hoping to make a couple of the games this season with my schedule I'm very flexible, hopefully not for much longer. Anyway, but I'm not sure were the "Death, Taxes," comes in. Is it because we are in tax season and things aren't going so well as far as getting them done? And you'll die if they don't get done? I'm confused, but that's not a suprise I'm sure. Enlighten us:)
Yeah, after I posted I realized that I forgot to refer to my title in the body of my post. Ben Franklin said, "In this world nothing is certain but death and taxes." To that I would add, "and Team Spirit winning their matches!"
I corrected the post to reflect the Franklin quote.
Sweet quote, I believe Benjamin Franklin tried to liven things with humor. Wow, team spirit is working quite well, eh? It's fun to hear of the play-by-play action...do you have videos of the game? I wonder if blogger has enough storage for that type of thing...well, thank goodness it's getting a bit warmer...except this week...
