Team Spirit is a morning team. This means that when gametime is before noon, look out. They play their best soccer at a time when most people are just beginning to think about what to have for lunch.Being a morning team means that The Girls in Gold struggle with games at the end of the day. It takes a while for them to get going when they play at dinnertime, and that is exactly what happened last night in the U14 indoor league.
Team Spirit gave up a goal in the first 30 seconds and another before three minutes had passed. Fortunately for the coach's health and blood pressure, Team Spirit rallied from there, tying the game 2-2 by the end of the first 20-minute half. In the second half, it was all Team Spirit, with many shots on goal and an impressive second half by the goalkeeper. When it was over, Team Spirit had held on to a 4-3 victory, which puts them--for now--in third place in their U14 league. Check out the updated standings here.
Madison had a very good game, but one that did not show up very impressively on the stat sheet. She had no goals, but dominated her position and was seen flying all over the field to help her teammates.
Team Spirit only has three games in the next five weeks, beginning on 11/21 with a game against the current last place team, Dominators (0-3), who have been outscored 5-25 in the first three games. This will be a good game to help Team Spirit get their offense on track.
