The Girls in Gold turned in another dominating performance in the pouring rain by outscoring HC Storm C Jensen 5-0. Team Spirit was led by Madison Giles' three-goal performance. Maddie accounted for TS's first three goals: one from 'way downtown, another on a fast break, and the third as a shot she took from midrange bounced off a defender and in for a 3-0 lead at halftime. Team Spirit added two insurance goals in the second half to claim the title of "half-way champion." League play will be suspended until the Spring when Team Spirit will play another ten games and then play in the league tournament.
Madison had 7 goals in this first half of the season, which accounted for 1/10 of the scoring for Team Spirit. Out of 63 girls who scored goals in the league, Maddie's seven goals in 10 games puts her tied for 10th place in the league for goals scored (Click here to see the stats). What's Maddie's jersey number? That's right. 10.
Next up, the girls will play in the Fall indoor league (which is independent of the outdoor leage, but which also keeps their standings on the web). Play begins October 27. Stay tuned for all the exciting action of Team Spirit's march to the championship!

Hi Geret! You must be the official statastician, that's awesome! Your girls...ehem...Storm must be quite the team! So, is the season at an end? If not...keep up the fire. If so, where's the trophy?
